Everton star Seamus Coleman returns to the club for treatment on an injury sustained against England

Everton defender Seamus Coleman has returned to the Merseyside club for treatment on the injury he sustained in the second-half of the Republic Of Ireland’s defeat to England on Saturday, according to Alan Myers.

The 35-year-old Everton star was withdrawn after 57 minutes in the 2-0 defeat at the Aviva Stadium and will now look to continue his rehabilitation at Finch Farm ahead of the Premier League resumption.

The Toffees return to action on September 14 when they visit Aston Villa and will be desperate to finally pick up their first points of 2024-25.

Everton have lost their opening three league games of the new season, suffering a 3-0 loss to Brighton & Hove Albion on the opening day of the campaign before a 4-0 defeat to Tottenham Hotspur away from home.

They lost 3-2 to Bournemouth before the international break, with the Cherries coming from two goals down to win and deal Everton a huge blow after starting their comeback in the 87th minute.

Coleman played all 90 minutes against Bournemouth and was also involved in their second-round Carabao Cup game against Doncaster Rovers last month.

The veteran right-back will look to play a huge role for Everton this term and help his team remain in the Premier League at the end of the campaign.

The Blues manager Sean Dyche is at the risk of losing his job following their poor start to the season, with prospective owner and takeover bidder John Textor reportedly keen on bringing in a new boss to replace him if he wins control of the club.

The American businessman is closing in on completing his purchase of Everton and would love to recruit the services of either Palmeiras manager Abel Ferreira or his AC Milan counterpart Paulo Fonseca as a replacement for Dyche, and the Toffees boss needs to turn their fortunes around on the pitch immediately if he is to have any chance of retaining his job post-takeover.
