Fenerbahce, AC Milan and Atalanta want Newcastle United star Kieran Trippier in January

Newcastle United defender Kieran Trippier has told the club he is desperate for regular game time, and wants to move on in January, indicating he wants a fresh start outside the Premier League and move overseas, according to the Sun.

Turkish Super Lig club Fenerbahce, managed by Jose Mourinho, are favourites to land the Newcastle star having shown interest in the former England international star during the summer transfer window.

However, they will face competition from Atalanta and AC Milan, but getting a deal done for Trippier could be tricky as all three clubs want to sign the 34-year-old on loan with an option to sign him permanently next summer.

Newcastle want a permanent deal, which could lead to longer talks between them and suitors during the January transfer window.

Trippier is desperate to play regular first-team football having retired from international football to focus on getting the most out of the remainder of his career, and he knows he has to leave the Magpies for that to happen.

Al Ittihad and Everton also attempted to sign the former Atletico Madrid right-back in the summer, and more suitors are expected to emerge for his services in January.

He has started just one Premier League game this term, coming off the bench twice having lost his place in the Newcastle starting XI to Tino Livramento.

Manager Eddie Howe would love to hold on to his vice-captain given his huge experience, but Trippier has become a frustrated figure at Newcastle having started the season on the bench and is desperate to move on.

He joined the Magpies from Atletico in January 2022 and has weighed in with four goals and 21 assists in 96 appearances, helping them qualify for the Champions League at the end of the 2022-23 season.
