Everton picked up their first win of the season in the Premier League after earning a 2-1 victory over Crystal Palace at Goodison Park.
Earlier this week, the Toffees fans received great news that the Friedkin group has agreed a deal with Farhad Moshiri over the takeover of the club, and they are waiting for the final confirmation from the Premier League.
The focus now shifts back to the results on the pitch. Everton have really struggled this season, managing only one point from their opening five games.
However, the victory at Goodison Park against Crystal Palace will give them a massive lift. Two superb goals from Dwight McNeil earned all three points for the Toffees as they came from behind to win the game.
Iain Dowie, who was commentating on the game for the Premier League TV production, was heavily impressed by McNeil’s first goal, which was indeed outstanding.
The Sky Sports pundit said on air (47 min): “Fantastic strike. He does not blast it. He curls it. Out of reach of Henderson.
“What a goal from Dwight McNeil. He is capable of spectacular. That is spectacular.”
Great week for Everton on and off the pitch
It was an end to end open game, and Everton fell behind early from a scrappy goal from Marc Guehi. But they responded really well.
It needed a spectacular effort from someone to lift the stadium, and McNeil stepped up and delivered a worldie.
With his gifted left-foot, he curled the ball into the far corner from 30 yards out. It was a stunning goal.
It swung the momentum completely in Everton’s favour, and shortly afterwards, McNeil scored again, with a peach of cross coming from Jack Harrison.
It was a sigh of relief in the end, and Sean Dyche will be really happy with the effort from his side. It has been a great week for them, both on and off the pitch.
