BBC pundit Chris Sutton has backed Liverpool to make it consecutive Premier League wins when the Reds take on Wolverhampton Wanderers at Molineux Stadium on Saturday evening.
The Reds have made an exceptional start to life in the Arne Slot era, picking up 12 points from the opening five Premier League games.
The only blot on their otherwise perfect record was the shocking 1-0 defeat against Nottingham Forest, but they’re still second in the Premier League table, just one point behind the reigning champions Manchester City.
Since falling short against the Tricky Trees, Liverpool have responded in emphatic fashion, winning their subsequent three games in a row.
They scored at least three goals in each game while conceding just twice, boasting a combined scoreline of 11-2.
Slot will demand more of the same from his side. Liverpool have been devastating going forward while boasting a near-impenetrable defence, but they can’t afford to get complacent against a desperate Wolves side.
While predicting the scoreline of the upcoming contest in the West Midlands, Sutton waxed lyrical about Wolves despite their poor start to the season.
The former Celtic star believes the Wanderers have what it takes to cause problems for Liverpool but backed the Reds to make it four wins on the bounce across all competitions.
In his column for BBC Sport, Sutton wrote: “Wolves have not been as bad as their results suggest, but I suspect the fans’ patience is wearing a bit thin with their manager, Gary O’Neil.
“That is slightly unfortunate and unfair because overall, he did well last season, but the way Wolves ended the last campaign poorly and have started this one the same way does not help him, clearly.
“This game probably won’t do much for his cause, either. It is hard to look past a Liverpool win, based on their firepower and their strength off the bench.
“They wiped the floor with Bournemouth last week, and while this will be closer, I still think Liverpool will win it.”
In their most recent outing, Liverpool put in a five-star performance, thrashing West Ham 5-1 in the EFL Cup third round.
Diogo Jota and Cody Gakpo scored a brace on either side of a 74th-minute strike from Mohamed Salah.
