John Hartson reacts to Celtic win v Slovan Bratislava

Celtic have started their European campaign emphatically, winning 5-1 over Slovan Bratislava on Wednesday night at Parkhead.

Liam Sscales scored the opening goal for the Bhoys, and it was followed by four second-half goals from Kyogo Furuhashi, Arne Engels, Daizen Maeda and Adam Idah as Celtic thrashed the Slokan champions on a memorable night.

John Hartson, the club legend, took to X on 18 September to share his reaction after the win. He says it was a “top class” performance from the Hoops.

He wrote: “Celtic been outstanding tonight.. really top class.”

Celtic are relentless this season under Brendan Rodgers

The Bhoys spent big in the summer and added some quality players to the ranks despite losing Matt O’Riley to Brighton.

They have made a terrific start in the Scottish Premiership, winning all their games, and are yet to concede a goal thus far.

The Scottish champions needed to deliver a strong performance in Europe this season, and the new format will probably help them achieve their goals.

Brendan Rodgers said prior to the game that Celtic are well equipped this time to handle the European pressure, mainly because of the squad they have.

It was reflected in the opening game, as the Bhoys played with dominance and flair.

Arne Engels was one of the stars of the show, as he provided one goal and an assist, but overall, it was an outstanding performance from everyone.

Celtic forwards looked a different beast in the second half, with Daizen Maeda and Kyogo Furuhashi threatened throughout.

Adam Idah came off the bench and scored again. Celtic paid a huge transfer fee to sign him, but he has mostly played as a second fiddle to Kyogo. Rodgers will be extremely pleased with the effort from the striker and also the depth in quality his side possesses at the moment.
