Keith Jackson predicts scoreline of Borussia Dortmund v Celtic

Celtic to travel to Signal Iduna Park to face Borussia Dortmund in the Champions League on Tuesday night (1 October).

Keith Jackson says it would be a “magnificent result” for the Bhoys if they can come up with a draw against the German giants.

Celtic have been outstanding this season and have yet to drop a point in any competition. They have won their previous Champions League game 5-1 against Bratislava and should be in full confidence ahead of their clash against Dortmund.

The German side reached the finals of the Champions League last season, and they will start as obvious favourites. While they have had a turbulent start to the new season, Jackson says that it will make them “dangerous” in European competitions.

The Daily Record journalist, however, has predicted a 3-1 win for Dortmund against the Scottish champions.

He wrote: “The Germans might be enduring a turbulent start to the season but that may make them even more dangerous.

“Let’s not forget, there’s a reason they made the final of this competition last season. Celtic, on the contrary, go there with all guns blazing but this is likely to be the biggest test yet for Brendan Rodgers and his new look squad.

“A point would represent a magnificent result but even that feels like a long shot. Dortmund 3 Celtic 1.”

The biggest test of the season for Celtic so far

Jackson is absolutely spot on that this is the biggest test of the season for the Bhoys so far.

Brendan Rodgers’ side have been an unstoppable force in Scotland so far, and they have demolished their nearest rivals Rangers 3-0 earlier this season.

The Bhoys have won nine games in a row in all competitions and it is a fantastic achievement so far. But facing Dortmund in the Champions League away from home is a massive test.

The new format is very interesting, and it allows teams like Celtic to have a genuine chance of making it to the knockouts.

Given the form they are in, fans should expect Celtic to put up a strong fight against Dortmund, irrespective of the result. A draw would be a terrific result for Celtic, and a win would be simply monumental for the club.
