Kris Boyd: Not one Rangers player would get in the Celtic starting line-up right now

Rangers were blown away by Celtic at Parkhead on Sunday, with goals from Daizen Maeda, Kyogo Furuhashi and Callum McGregor condemning the Bears to a 3-0 defeat while the Hoops maintained their impressive start to their title defence.

Former Gers star Kris Boyd was unimpressed with what he saw from the Light Blues, insisting none of them would get into the Celtic starting XI right now.

He is also convinced that up to five Hoops players not currently in their starting line-up would walk straight into the Rangers starting XI.

“Butland has obviously been an England internationalist, and last season you would have had him ahead of Joe Hart, who was coming to the end of his career,” the Sky Sports pundit said.

“But (Kasper) Schmeichel has come in and he has not conceded a goal.

“In current form, you have got to say that the Celtic starting XI from the weekend, there is no one Rangers player that is getting there.

“You look at Celtic right now and they look far superior all over the pitch, and four or five from the Celtic bench would walk into the Rangers starting XI.”

Rangers are far behind Celtic right now and manager Philippe Clement has to admit that.

The Belgian bolstered his squad during the summer transfer window, adding Neraysho Kasanwirjo, Nadim Barjami, Jefte, Oscar Cortes, Clinton Nsiala, Connor Barron, Liam Kelly, Hamza Igamane, Robin Propper, Vaclav Cerny and Mohamed Diomande to the team.

However, whether he has done enough to stop Celtic from dominating again this term remains to be seen.

The Hoops are by far the best team in the land right now and will fancy their chances of retaining the Scottish Premiership title this term.

Celtic have won 54 titles in total while Ranger have won it 55 times, and while the Light Blues will be desperate to stop them from equalling their record, they do not have the squad capable of doing so, with the gulf in quality between both clubs was on display on Sunday.
