Liverpool star Alexis Mac Allister has a problem with his adductor muscle, will train seperately ahead of Tuesday

Liverpool midfielder Alexis Mac Allister has a problem with his adductor muscle and will now train separately from the rest of the Argentina squad until Tuesday to be ready for the match against Colombia, according to TyC Sports journalist Gaston Edul.

The 25-year-old bagged the opener for the reigning World Cup champions in their 3-0 victory over Chile in their CONMEBOL qualification for the 2026 World Cup in the early hours of today and was taken off in the 79th minute.

Argentina face Colombia on Tuesday in their eighth game of the qualifiers, and it remains to be seen whether the Liverpool star will be available for selection.

Mac Allister has played every minute of all the three Premier League games the Reds have played so far in 2024-25, and manager Arne Slot will be desperate not to lose him to an injury right now.

Liverpool are joint-leaders at the top of the league table alongside Manchester City following an unbeaten and 100% winning start to the new campaign, and they return to action on September 14 against Nottingham Forest at Anfield.

The Reds need Mac Allister available for the game and Slot will be keeping tabs on his situation ahead of Tuesday.

The midfielder featured in 33 league games last term, weighing in with five goals and five assists, and the new Liverpool manager is counting on him for his debut season in charge of the Anfield club.

Argentina could decide to rest him for the game on Tuesday as they are currently top of the CONMEBOL qualifications table after six wins and a loss in seven games, with five points separating them from second-placed Uruguay – who have played six games so far.

Liverpool will look to challenge for the English top-flight title this term, and Slot needs all his key players fit and available for selection for most of the games if the Merseyside club are to have a chance against Manchester City and Arsenal.
