A number of Celtic players are still facing an uncertain future at Parkhead and could be sold this month to other leagues where the transfer window is still open.
According to a report from the Daily Record, Celtic defender Maik Nawrocki is one of those players whose future at the club is unclear.
The transfer window is closed in the UK and big leagues elsewhere in Europe, but it is still open in other leagues, and unwanted players could be shipped out.
The 23-year-old defender has become surplus to requirements at Celtic Park, especially after Auston Trusty’s arrival from Sheffield United.
Brendan Rodgers has Cameron Carter-Vickers, Liam Scales, Stephen Welsh and Trusty as major options, and definitely Nawrocki is going to drop down the pecking order at the club.
The report claims that arranging a transfer now could be “tricky”, but he could still be offloaded, with clubs in his homeland, Poland could be interested. Clubs in Poland can sign players up until Friday, September 6, and a potential exit cannot be ruled out.
Other Celtic players who could leave Parkhead
Celtic paid over £4.3 million to sign Nawrocki from Legia Warsaw last summer on a five-year deal.
The Hoops can send him out on loan if they want, as it would be really difficult for them to secure a permanent transfer for the Polish defender.
He managed 13 games in all competitions last season and looked out of depth at the Glasgow club.
Celtic should also look to offload Liam Shaw. The midfielder spent the last season at Wigan on loan. He has only a year left on his current deal at Parkhead and could be allowed to leave for free if he fails to find a new club.
Clubs in Belgium, Switzerland or even Greece can still sign players, and Celtic should look to offload the likes of James McCarthy and Yang to get rid of their wage bills.
