Manchester United have claimed back-to-back wins in all competitions since returning from the international break.
Their latest success came at home against League One outfit Barnsley, with the Red Devils pounding seven unanswered goals to claim the biggest victory of Erik ten Hag’s era.
However, talkSPORT’s Simon Jordan wasn’t impressed with their success as he refused to praise their victory at Old Trafford against Barnsley.
The former Crystal Palace owner said: “If that’s the blueprint for Man United, they can go back to the 70s and see how much that was successful for them. We won cups in the 70s, I think it is commendable, I think it is remarkable. I think we should be waxing lyrical about beating a team that got beat 3-0 at the weekend by Stevenage”.
A Manchester United supporter wasn’t happy with Jordan as he slammed the 56-year-old for always criticising the club.
Co-presenter Jim White read the fan’s comments: “Here we go again, digging out Ten Hag and the players. Always negative you guys”.
Jordan said in reply: “Nothing negative about it. I am just not going to sit there and say it is wonderful”.
Manchester United were woeful before the international break. They lost 2-1 at Brighton & Hove Albion after conceding a stoppage-time goal.
The Premier League giants subsequently fell to a humiliating 3-0 defeat at home to Liverpool in a completely one-sided game.
Manager Erik ten Hag and his players certainly deserved criticism for their poor performances in those two matches.
However, they should now be appreciated for making a good comeback after the international break.
The team were under a lot of pressure before the Southampton game and though they endured a difficult start, the Red Devils ultimately cruised to a comfortable win.
Against Barnsley, Ten Hag’s men produced a fantastic attacking performance. Marcus Rashford, Alejandro Garnacho and Christian Eriksen all scored twice, while even the much-maligned Antony got on the scoresheet.
United deserve to be praised for their brilliant performances recently, but pundits are still focusing on all the negativity which is very sad.
