West Ham United came from behind to earn a 1-1 draw at Brentford on Saturday in the Premier League.
The Hammers made a horrible start at the Gtech Community Stadium as Bryan Mbeumo volleyed home the opener with less than 60 seconds on the clock.
Despite the early setback, Julen Lopetegui’s men remained positive and managed to create several goal scoring opportunities.
However, it wasn’t until the 54th minute that they found the equaliser when Tomas Soucek was in the right place at the right time to bundle the ball in.
Both sides threatened to snatch a winner but ultimately settled for a point each at the Gtech Community Stadium.
Soucek grabbed all the headlines for providing the vital second-half goal, but Max Kilman also deserves a lot of credit for his important role in the game.
Partnering Jean-Clair Todibo in the backline, the English footballer provided a solid defensive display. He was comfortable on the ball and key to getting the Hammers up the pitch and starting attacks.
Standing at 6 feet 4 inches, the 27-year-old registered 48 touches in the match and completed 34 of his 39 passes. He won all his aerial duels and contributed a key pass.
The defender also made five clearances, two interceptions and a tackle in the away encounter.
West Ham spent a heavy £40 million to secure a deal for Kilman this summer. However, the 27-year-old has proved to be an excellent signing for them so far.
He has hit the ground running at the London Stadium, starting all six Premier League matches.
