West Ham United have made a dreadful start to the 2024-25 campaign.
The mood around the club is not cheerful at the moment, with the Irons winning just one of their five Premier League matches so far.
They have now also been eliminated from the Carabao Cup following a humiliating 5-1 loss to Liverpool on Wednesday.
It was a disappointing overall performance from the Hammers who started well but crumbled after Diogo Jota scored the equaliser in the 25th minute.
The Portuguese completed his double early in the second-half before Mohammed Salah also earned his name on the scoresheet.
Cody Gakpo then struck a brace in the final minutes as Liverpool claimed an emphatic 5-1 success at Anfield.
There were not a lot of positives for West Ham yesterday, but their supporters will be happy to see a decent performance from summer arrival Crysencio Summerville.
The National media delivered a damning verdict on the Hammers’ display in Merseyside but they were left impressed with Summerville’s sharpness and pace.
The Daily Mail gave the 22-year-old a 6/10 rating noting he “looked sharp every time he got the ball”. They also believe the young winger could bring “some much-needed excitement” to the club.
However, he missed a goalscoring opportunity in the first-half and that’s why he couldn’t hit higher than 6.
Summerville joined West Ham this summer from Leeds United in a deal worth around £25 million. He has featured in four Premier League games so far, but three of them have been from the bench.
