New signing Odsonne Edouard impresses in Leicester training

Leicester City manager Steve Cooper conducted training this morning and must have been excited to see new signing Odsonne Edouard tearing it up.

The Frenchman joined Leicester on loan from Crystal Palace on deadline day. He was sharp and finishing chances from all sorts of angles, which will be a welcome boost to Cooper, who needs all the firepower he can get.

One curling effort caught the eye as Edouard picked up the ball, cut in and bent an effort into the top bin. However, Cooper was blocking the view, meaning the camera crew did not capture the stunning strike in all its glory.

Copper, being a gentleman, apologised for getting in the way of the shot before continuing with the session.

The Foxes have been overly reliant on Jamie Vardy, who is entering the twilight of his career. They need a new talisman to bang in goals and spearhead them to safety this term. The former Celtic striker could be their man.

Edouard has not played for Leicester this term but will hope he gets some game time after the international break. Interestingly, Leicester travel to Edouard’s old stomping ground immediately after the international games.

It never quite worked out for Edouard at Crystal Palace. The Paris Saint-Germain academy graduate had shone in Scotland for Celtic but netted just 21 goals for the Eagles. He has found his opportunities limited recently.

Edouard joined the South London club for £13 million from Celtic three years ago but has struggled to kick on at Selhurst Park. He hopes to revive his once-promising career in Leicester. The 26-year-old could earn a permanent move to Leicester if he delivers the goods.

He will look to play a pivotal role as the Foxes strive to avoid relegation. They have started the season poorly, with one point from their first three games and must arrest the slump immediately to prevent themselves from sliding into dangerous terrains. Their new striker could be key.
