Newcastle United are ready to make England international attacker Anthony Gordon their highest earner on a deal worth close to £9 million per season, according to the Daily Mail.
Brazilian midfielder Bruno Guimaraes is currently the top earner at Newcastle on around £160,000 a week, but the wages they are offering his 23-year-old teammate would eclipse his.
The Magpies are trying to convince Gordon to remain at the club after Liverpool attempted to lure him away in the summer, and they have already opened preliminary talks with him over a new deal.
However, Newcastle may consider selling him next summer if he refuses to sign a contract extension.
He currently earns £60,000 per week and will get to triple it if he puts pen to paper on a new deal.
The Liverpool-born attacker joined Newcastle on a long-term contract from Everton in January 2023 for an initial £40m, and the deal could potentially rise to £45m in add-ons.
Gordon has 14 goals and 11 assists in 69 games across all competitions since moving to the St. James Park club, breaking into the England team during the process.
He has started all four Premier League games this term, scoring once and is a key player under manager Eddie Howe.
Gordon was keen to leave for a club playing in the Champions League during the summer transfer window as he knows it would boost his chances of remaining with the Three Lions, and Newcastle may need to finish in the top-four this term to have a chance of holding on to him beyond next summer.
