Newcastle United are tracking Nordsjaelland striker Sindre Walle Egeli and would love to sign him, according to the Daily Mail journalist Craig Hope.
The 18-year-old Norwegian phenomenon has been widely dubbed ‘the next Erling Haaland’ back at home due to his similar style of play to his compatriot and Manchester City hitman, and Newcastle are one of the clubs monitoring his situation.
Egeli was an unusually prolific striker at youth and reserve level, with 19 goals in 13 appearances in the Norwegian Fourth Division with the reserve team of Sandefjord.
The Magpies target has already debuted for the senior Norway national team after bagging 32 goals across their age-grade levels, featuring in their Nations League game against Kazakhstan earlier this month.
Newcastle are preparing for life without 32-year-old Callum Wilson, and Egeli has emerged as a potential transfer target going forward.
Sweden international striker Alexander Isak has suffered a toe injury and is a doubt for the trip to Fulham this weekend, and manager Eddie Howe will likely start Anthony Gordon at centre-forward with Wilson still out injured.
Newcastle need depth in the striking department, and bringing in Egeli next summer could appeal to them.
Both Howe and new sporting director Paul Mitchell will have to agree that the teenage sensation is perfect for the Toons, and it is unknown if that has yet to happen.
The duo clashed during the summer transfer window and afterwards after Newcastle failed to make any additions after the sporting director arrived in July to succeed Dan Ashworth.
They will look to work together ahead of subsequent transfer windows and identify players who fit into the plans of the Newcastle boss, and Egeli could turn out to be one.
