Tottenham Hotspur forward Dejan Kulusevski delivered a man-of-the-match performance to help his side claim a phenomenal 3-0 victory over Manchester United at Old Trafford.
Despite being deployed in a midfield role, the Swedish forward ran the show and racked up a stunning 9.1 match rating on Sofascore.
Brennan Johnson opened the scoring for Ange Postecoglou’s side, tucking home a low cross from Micky van de Ven at the far post.
Tottenham had plenty of chances to put the game to bed in the first half, but their wastefulness in the final third meant they went into the half-time interval with a narrow 1-0 lead.
After probing throughout the opening period, Spurs finally got their two-goal cushion just two minutes into the second half.
Johnson’s deflected cross fell kindly for Kulusevski, and the Swede acrobatically poked the ball past Andre Onana to open his goalscoring account this season.
Summer signing Dominic Solanke then completed the 3-0 rout late in the game, latching on to a flicked header from Pape Matar Sarr to poke home his third goal in all competitions for Spurs.
Kulusevki’s performance was the highlight of Tottenham’s confidence-boosting triumph over Man United.
In addition to his well-taken goal, Kulusevski created nine chances for Tottenham, the most on record (since 2003/04) by a visiting player in a Premier League game at Old Trafford (stats via BBC Sports Live).
The former Juventus ace also recorded nine key passes and created three big chances. He was unlucky not to pick up an assist after his exceptional display in Manchester.
Kulusevski has struggled to get going this season, but he’ll be keen to build on his performance against Man United when Spurs take on Ferencvaros in the Europa League.
Meanwhile, Tottenahm’s win at Old Trafford takes them up to eighth in the Premier League table, having racked up ten points from six games.
