Manchester City have made an excellent start to the 2024-25 Premier League campaign as they are the only side who haven’t lost a point so far.
Pep Guardiola’s side looked in trouble on Saturday when they conceded an early goal against Brentford.
However, they soon recovered to score twice before the break, and ultimately claimed a comfortable 2-1 win.
Both goals were scored by Erling Haaland who has now taken his league tally to nine this season.
Manchester City are clearly massive favourites to lift the Premier League trophy, but ex-England international Owen Hargreaves believes they are also in the box-seat to win the Champions League.
He said (per Sunday Mirror): “Manchester City are definitely favourites for the competition this season.
“They are the best team, they have the best coach and Haaland has started like a house on fire again.
“It’s always hard to win back-to-back Champions Leagues but I still think City are the true favourites and they will be for as long as Guardiola stays at the club.
“When you play for a club like City, they expect you to keep winning things. Nobody at City will be thinking, ‘We’ve had great success, let’s take our foot off the gas’ – they will be right there again.”
Manchester City have been impeccable so far this campaign as they are the only side to maintain a 100 percent winning record.
They have some of the best players as well as the best coach in the world.
However, there are other teams in Europe who look equally matched to the Citizens and are likely to provide a very tough competition.
Real Madrid have added Kylian Mbappe to their ranks and they will be looking for back-to-back European Cups.
Bayern Munich have also invested heavily this summer to improve their squad, and they are likely to make a comeback following a disappointing 2023-24 season.
Arsenal are also capable of going deep into the tournament given the quality of players at Mikel Arteta’s disposal.
