Rangers injury update: Danilo could be out for four weeks

Rangers striker Danilo could be out for three or four weeks after he had surgery on his knee.

The Ibrox club submitted their squad for the Europa League, and Danilo and Rabbi Matondo were left out.

Four Lads Had a Dream shared on X (5 September) that the Brazilian striker has had a “small setback” with his knee, and it is not that serious.

The 25-year-old has travelled to Netherlands for rehab and treatment. He was advised to wear a brace today for safe travel.

Danilo missed most of last season with a serious knee injury, but it appears that he could be back in action within a month if the rehab goes well.

Four Lads also suggested that Tom Lawrence might have suffered the exact same setback, which is small grade tear, and sometimes it becomes very difficult to recover from these injuries.

They wrote on X: “Danilo has had a small set back with his knee, it is not a repeat or serious injury.

“He is travelling to Holland today for some treatment & rehab, faces 3-4 weeks out (he had to wear a brace today to travel as per advice). Common in these big injuries, a set back, but happens.”

Rangers poor luck with injuries continue

Philippe Clement was left frustrated last season after the side was plagued by injury problems. He missed several key players last season through injuries, and the club has made changes to their medical department to counter the problem.

The Belgium boss will be frustrated with the injury blows to both Danilo and Matondo. The duo has failed to make the cut for the Europa League group stage squad, but adjustments can be made later on if Rangers progress through the knockout stages.

Matondo has started the season brightly. He picked up an injury in the Old Firm clash against Celtic and won’t be playing for Wales during the international break.

Meanwhile, as expected, Rangers have not picked Ianis Hagi for their squad for the Europa League. The Romanian attacker has been informed already that he has no role to play in the club’s future.
