Tim Sherwood heaps praise on magnificent Morgan Rogers

Aston Villa claimed a rousing 3-1 win over Wolverhampton Wanderers this afternoon to continue their impressive start to the Premier League season.

Wolves led early through Matheus Cunha, and the Villains left it late. Striker Ollie Watkins levelled proceedings on 73 to make it three goals in two games after a poor start to the season.

The Villains had Wolves on the ropes, pushing and probing for a winner that came with two minutes to go. Villa maestro Youri Tielemans sent in a delightful cross that Ezri Konsa dispatched at the back post.

Villa super substitute Jhon Duran came on and ensured the win following fantastic play from Morgan Rogers in the build-up.

In the dying embers of the game, Rogers made a nice darting run to collect a pass before unselfishly squaring the ball for Duran to finish.

Rogers’ overall play and excellent assist earned him rave reviews from several pundits. Former Tottenham Hotspur boss and Sky Sports pundit Tim Sherwood said,Absolutely magnificent he’s been all afternoon.”

He praised the timing of the run and the execution of the pass,Absolutely magnificent from Morgan Rogers,he chimed in again.Looks a simple pass, but it is not.”

Rogers was fantastic again playing up top with Watkins, as he has been for most of the season, despite the end product not telling the full story.

Today, he assisted the Watkins leveller before helping to put the finishing touch again to crown another outstanding outing.

He was equally impressive in Villa’s Champions League opener against Young Boys, playing a crucial role as they stormed to a 3-0 victory.

The Villains have jolted up to third on the league table, where they sit comfortably, although Arsenal could pip them to that spot with an unlikely win over Manchester City.

Next, Villa face Wycombe in the Third Round of the EFL Cup before a trip to Suffolk to take on Ipswich Town on Sunday.
