Virgil van Dijk addresses his Liverpool future after Mohamed Salah admission

Liverpool have made a brilliant start to the new Premier League campaign, picking up maximum points from their opening three matches.

However, three of their biggest stars are approaching the end of their contracts and they are yet to address the issue.

Mohamed Salah, Virgil van Dijk and Trent Alexander-Arnold will all be out of contracts in 2025.

Salah admitted on Sunday following their 3-0 win at Manchester United that he could be playing in his final season for the Reds (ESPN).

However, Virgil van Dijk has made it clear he wants to continue his career on Merseyside.

The experienced defender said (per the Mirror): “At both teams, I am still Virgil van Dijk, the big leader. And I certainly want to remain that for the next two years.”

Van Dijk, Salah and Alexander-Arnold are all top quality players and Liverpool cannot afford to lose them.

The Dutch centre-back has reached the age of 33 but he is still capable of producing the goods when required.

He delivered a masterclass performance at Old Trafford last weekend, as he intercepted, dominated in the air and led by example.

The Netherlands international completed 95 percent of his passes, won all his aerial duels and made 11 clearances in the game.

Salah’s levels haven’t dropped as well despite turning 32. The Egyptian has scored goals in all three matches this campaign.

Last term, he notched 18 goals and contributed 10 assists in 32 Premier League matches.

Meanwhile, Alexander-Arnold has also been an asset for the club. The England international has made over 300 senior appearances so far, helping his side win the Premier League and Champions League trophies.
