This has been an excellent week for Everton, both on and off the pitch.
On the pitch, the Toffees picked up their first win of the season after beating Crystal Palace 2-1 at Goodison Park. The pressure is slightly relieved, and Sean Dyche now can look forward to building strong momentum.
The impact, off the pitch, is massive. The club has been fighting for the past few years to get away from Farhad Moshiri’s regime, and they can now see the light at the end of the tunnel.
Dan Friedkin has agreed a deal with Moshiri this week to buy Everton, and they are almost ready to take charge of the club. According to reports, the due diligence has been done already, the money is in place, and only the approval from the Premier League is left.
They should easily pass the ownership test, and according to the Daily Mail (page 95), Friedkin is due to arrive at Everton in December. He will take control of the club with loads of fresh ideas.
Dyche has welcomed the move, and he said in the post-match press conference that – “there are positive signs”.
Massive victory for Everton v Crystal Palace
Everton fans can breathe a sigh of relief with the takeover now on the brink. It is high time for the club to focus on matters on the pitch, and Dyche must do everything to take the club closer to the top half of the table.
If Friedkin becomes the owner before January, Dyche can expect to receive funds to buy some players in the window. At the moment, Everton should look to climb up the table and pick up as many points as they can.
They came from behind at Goodison Park to secure a fantastic win, where Dwight McNeil scored a spectacular goal. The Toffees will face Newcastle United at Goodison Park next week.
