Willian to visit Olympiacos and discuss potential free move after Fulham exit

Former Fulham star Willian is travelling to Greece’s capital Athens tonight in order to visit Olympiacos and discuss a potential free move, according to Italian transfer expert Fabrizio Romano.

The Brazilian attacker left Craven Cottage in the summer and is now assessing options as he is able to join any club in Europe after the summer transfer window as a free agent.

He has several options on the table following a good season with Fulham in 2023-24, and a move to the Super League Greece club could be on the cards.

The 36-year-old bagged ten goals and seven assists in 67 games for Fulham across the two seasons he spent with the London club after joining them from Corinthians in September 2022.

Willian initially signed for the Cottagers on a one-year contract but signed another one-year contract in the summer of 2023 after impressing in his debut campaign.

Fulham were hoping to agree another deal with him in the summer but the former Chelsea star opted against an extension and will now look to keep plying his trade in Europe for the time being.

The club ended up signing Ryan Sessegnon, Emile Smith Rowe, Jorge Cuenca Sander Berge and Joachim Andersen, with Reiss Nelson joining on loan from Arsenal on summer transfer deadline day.

Fulham have started 2024-25 well, with a win, a draw and a loss in their opening three Premier League games, and they have booked a place in the Carabao Cup third-round to face Preston North End after beating Birmingham City 2-0 in the last round last week.

They resume Premier League action after the international break this month with a London derby against West Ham United, and manager Marco Silva will be eyeing all three points as the Portuguese wants to lead his side to a top-seven finish after finishing 13th last term and 10th in 2022-23.
