Ally McCoist wowed by Youri Tielemans vision in Aston Villa v Bologna

Aston Villa claimed a 2-0 win over Serie A outfit Bologna to move to the top of the UEFA Champions League log. The Villains have won all three games in Europe’s premier competition without conceding.

Before the clash, head coach Unai Emery reiterated that he wants his side competing for silverware and rubbing shoulders with the big boys.

His team delivered on the pitch. Following a 50/50 first half, Villa took the lead after the break through John McGinn, who marked his return to the team with a goal.

Minutes later, Villa striker Jhon Duran doubled that lead, turning home a delightful ball from Morgan Rogers to ensure all three points went to the Premier League side.

Duran finally got to start a game this season and delivered the goods with his seventh goal for Villa in about 405 minutes of playing time. He is currently averaging a goal every 58 minutes.

Another player who had an outstanding game was midfielder Youri Tielemans, who showed his extensive passing range against the Serie A outfit.

At one point, Tielemans sent in a gorgeous pass that only needed the deftest of touches, which Duran applied, and he was unlucky to see that ball not end up in the back of the net.

“The quality of the ball in from Youri Tielemans is incredible, former Rangers striker Ally McCoist raved (via the BBC), in awe of the Belgian’s quality.

This comes just days after he played a starring role in the Premier League win over Fulham at Craven Cottage, with Alan Shearer hailing his performance.

Tielemans has become Emery’s lynchpin in midfield, helping to spread play and open opposition defences with his crisp passing.

The former AS Monaco man had struggled with game time last season but is now a crucial player for his side as they bid to make a deep Champions League run and clinch a top four spot.
