Liverpool defender Andrew Robertson was in fine form for Scotland during Tuesday night’s 0-0 draw against Portugal in the Nations League.
The 30-year-old has been one of the star performers in Arne Slot’s Liverpool side this season and has carried his impressive form to the international stage.
Aside from Craig Gordon between the sticks, Robertson was Scotland’s best performer on the night, putting in a shift that helped the Tartan Army claim their first point of the Nations League campaign.
The former Hull City star helped Scotland keep a clean sheet, recording one clearance, one interception, and two tackles while winning three out of his four ground duels. He had a passing accuracy of 87%.
He also contributed to Scotland’s attacking endeavours. He had 56 touches, completed two key passes, and created one big chance to end the game with a Sofascore rating of 7.6.
Robertson was also one of Scotland’s better performers in the previous game against Croatia, but his efforts weren’t enough to stop Steve Clarke’s side from falling to a 2-1 defeat.
Tuesday’s draw against Portugal means Scotland has just one point from four Nations League games, but they still have an outside chance of beating Poland to third place, with just three points separating both sides.
With October’s international break drawing to a close, Robertson will turn his attention to this weekend’s Premier League clash against Chelsea at Anfield.
The experienced full-back has yet to open his goalscoring account or record a goal contribution in nine games across all competitions.
Having just returned from a lengthy lay-off, Slot has rotated Robertson and Konstantinos Tsimikas at left-back, but the Scotsman is poised to start this weekend’s box office clash against Chelsea.
He’ll be keen to help the Reds extend their six-match winning streak across all competitions since a shocking 1-0 Premier League defeat to Nottingham Forest in mid-September.
