Liverpool dropped to second in the Premier League after they managed a 2-2 draw against Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium on Sunday.
The Reds twice came from behind to salvage a crucial point, with goals coming from Virgil van Dijk and Mohamed Salah.
In the end, it felt like a good result for both teams, and Arne Slot should be happy with how his side responded after going down. It wasn’t a bad result for Liverpool at all.
However, Slot was unhappy about one thing. The Reds manager had picked up a yellow card in back-to-back games, and the Dutchman felt that this time, it had been wrongly given to him.
According to a report from the Daily Mail, referee Anthony Taylor booked Slot for appearing to explicitly complain about one of his decisions.
Slot said after the game that he didn’t swear at the referee but was saying something to one of his players, Ibrahima Konate.
The Reds manager was left frustrated after seeing Arsenal players easily fall to the floor, which disrupted their momentum.
What Arne Slot said about the incident
Slot said after the game: “So many times they were on the floor, which can happen in football – I don’t blame them for that. They always fell down after they had possession.
“That took the energy out of the game. I said to Ibou (Ibrahima Konate), This is a f***** joke. The fourth official thought I said to him, ‘You are a f***** joke.”
The Reds admitted after the game that he will have to be careful about his conduct.
Ibrahima Konate was superb for Liverpool
Slot praised Konate after the game, saying he had a great performance. The French defender has looked fitter and sharper under Slot this season and has forged a strong partnership alongside Virgil van Dijk at the back.
The 25-year-old defender made two tackles and seven clearances as he produced a fantastic defensive display for the Reds.
