Arne Slot shares what he told Ryan Gravenberch after Liverpool win v Bologna

Liverpool secured their second win in the Champions League after beating Bologna 2-0 on Wednesday night.

It was also Arne Slot’s first home Champions League match, and he was happy to see his side pick, although he wasn’t impressed with the overall performance.

Alexis MacAllister scored the opening goal for the club with a gentle tap-in from Mohamed Salah’s cross. Salah then scored an outrageous goal in the second half to earn back-to-back wins for Liverpool in this competition.

Ryan Gravenberch impressed yet again in the middle of the park, and the Daily Mail has given him an 8/10 rating for his dazzling performance.

Arne Slot revealed after the match that he was delighted with the midfielder and told him that he delivered another big performance on a big European night. The Reds boss has hailed him as an “outstanding” player.

Slot said on TNT Sport, as quoted by BBC Sport: “I was delighted with him. I don’t say that to players at half-time because there is still 45 minutes to go but I said after the game ‘again big performance’.

“Ryan was again outstanding today.”

Ryan Gravenberch has been brilliant this season for Liverpool

Gravenberch has been outstanding this season for Liverpool. He has been arguably the best player for the club so far, and his progress is clearly visible.

He has been remarkably consistent thus far, and his assured presence in the midfield has helped the club maintain an impressive start to the new season under their new manager.

Slot has used him in the number six role, and he has been able to get the best out of him. Along with his composure with the ball in his feet, what has been remarkable is that he has been a protective shield for the Reds back-four, and as a result, Liverpool are conceding fewer goals than last season.
