Arsenal’s attacking midfielder Leandro Trossard is enjoying a superb campaign for both the club and the country.
The Belgium attacker has become a key player for the Gunners in the past two seasons. He has started the 2024-25 season brightly, scoring two goals in the Premier League.
His sparkling form for Arsenal didn’t go unnoticed. The 29-year-old was rewarded with a start against Italy on Thursday night in the UEFA Nations League game.
The match ended 2-2, with Trossard scoring the second goal for the Red Devils to mount a successful comeback after Italy took a 2-0 lead.
Belgium newspaper Het Laatste Nieuws was full of praise for the Gunner’s attacker, and they gave him a 6/10 rating, adding that he “reacted quickly and smartly” to make it 2-2.
They wrote (page 21): “Played far from his best match for Red Devils. Did grow in the second half and reacted quickly and smartly for 2-2.”
Arsenal need Leandro Trossard to maintain this form
Trossard not only scored a goal, but he also provided the assist for the opening goal.
He made two key passes during the game and maintained over 84% passing accuracy. He also made two successful tackles and was given a 7.46 rating by whoscored.com.
However, the rating from the Belgium press looks a bit harsh, as surely he did enough to score more.
Trossard has been brilliant for Arsenal this season, and Mikel Arteta needs him to continue this impressive form, especially in the absence of Martin Odegaard.
The fact that Trossard can play in all the positions across the front three has made him a vital player for the club.
He was sensational in the 4-2 win against Leicester City and was equally outstanding in Arsenal’s 2-0 win over Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League.
The Gunners are expected to mount a serious challenge for the Premier League title once again this season, and they have some tough games coming up after the international break, including a massive clash against Liverpool.
