Emery to give Aston Villa duo first minutes of the season: Predicted XI v Bologna

Aston Villa host Bologna in the UEFA Champions League later today with three points up for the taking.

The Villains have made the perfect start to their European campaign after winning against Young Boys and German giants Bayern Munich.

Consequently, the Premier League club sits sixth on the UCL table, having conceded zero goals so far and will be heading into the game with confidence after their win over Fulham at the weekend.

Fulham raced into the early lead through the in-form Raul Jimenez before Morgan Rogers levelled the scoreline a few minutes later.

Ollie Watkins bagged a brilliant header to turn the tie around for Unai Emery’s side before an Issa Diop own goal sealed the scoreline.

Meanwhile, Bologna played out a disappointing 2-2 draw against Genoa over the weekend. They sit 12th on the Serie A log after a disappointing start under Vincenzo Italiano and will need to take it up a notch in this fixture to get a positive result.

Ahead of the Bologna game, Villa have a few key players returning from long-term injuries. Tyrone Mings and Boubacar Kamara could receive their first minutes against the Serie A side.

Also, Jacob Ramsey, John McGinn and Amadou Onana appeared against Fulham over the weekend after returning from injuries.

Jaden Philogene is expected to be in the starting line-up despite picking up a red card over the weekend. The England Youth International has provided valuable coverage in the absence of the starters.

The Villa stars could face young teammate Samuel Iling-Junior, who was sent out on loan to the Serie A club to gain meaningful experience after signing during the summer. He is eligible to face his parent club tomorrow.

Predicted Villa Starting Line-up v Bologna

(4-4-2): Emiliano Martinez; Matty Cash, Diego Carlos, Pau Torres, Lucas Digne; Youri Tielemans, Ross Barkley, Emiliano Buendia, Jaden Philogene; Jhon Duran, Ollie Watkins.
