Emre Can picks Celtic trio as major threat ahead of clash v Borussia Dortmund

Celtic will travel to Signal Iduna Park on Tuesday night to face Borussia Dortmund in the Champions League.

The Bhoys have been in outstanding form this season. They have won all their games so far in every competition they have participated in.

Brendan Rodgers’ side have already won their first game in the Champions League in the new format, beating Slovan Bratislava 5-1, and they will be in full confidence ahead of the game.

Dortmund midfielder Emre Can has suggested that they were left heavily impressed by Celtic’s win against Bratislava. The former Liverpool midfielder has warned that Celtic’s Japanese players can pose a major threat, and they should be prepared for it.

Can has hailed the impact of Hoops’ Japanese trio of Kyogo Furuhashi, Daizen Maeda and Reo Hatate ahead of the game.

“It would be a big mistake for us not to defeat Celtic on Tuesday,” said Can, as quoted by the Daily Record (page 48).

“When the draw was made, maybe people thought this game would be comfortable for us but after Celtic’s exhibition against Slovan, the impressions have changed.

“We’ve been impressed by the work of the Japanese players at Celtic. We have to stop those players in Dortmund.”

This is arguably Celtic’s biggest game of the season so far, and if they get a positive result away from Parkhead, it would serve massive boost to their confidence going forward.

Dortmund reached the finals of the Champions League last season. They have made a stuttering start to their new Bundesliga campaign, but they can always shift gears like wounded tigers.

The Bhoys will be without Cameron Carter-Vickers for this game as he is still out injured. While Maeda and Kyogo are likely to start, it will be interesting to see if Hatate makes it to the starting line-up. Arne Engels and Paulo Bernardo are likely to keep their places in midfield.
