Tottenham Hotspur forward Brennan Johnson is enjoying the form of his life at the moment.
The Spurs winger has been in great goal-scoring form recently, netting in six consecutive games for the north London club.
He has now made it seven in a row after scoring the opening goal for Wales in the 2-2 draw against Iceland on Friday night in the UEFA Nations League game.
Johnson has been in red-hot form, and Wales Online says he was in the “right place at the right time” for his goal.
What the national press wrote about Spurs winger Brennan Johnson
After Harry Wilson’s initial shot was saved, Johnson was there to pounce on it from close range in the 11th minute.
In the match report, Wales Online noted: “Not exactly a finish for the scrapbook, but arguably a goal that suited the tone of what was a largely scrappy start to a half Wales largely dominated.”
However, he was taken off at the break after picking up a needless yellow card during an off-the-ball confrontation with Jon Dagur Thorsteinsson.
Johnson, who will now miss Monday’s clash with Montenegro, has been given a 7/10 rating by Wales Online.
They wrote: “In the right place at the right time for his goal. However, he picked up a rather silly booking that will rule him out of Monday’s clash with Montenegro. Subbed.”
Ange Postecoglou will be very happy
While Ange Postecoglou wants his players to shine for their country as well, he will be really pleased to find that Johnson will not be playing in the next game.
His goal-scoring form will not come as a big surprise to him (nor to any Spurs fan), but what should please the Spurs boss is that the winger will now get a deserved rest.
Johnson has become a player reborn after he deactivated his Instagram account in September. He is now one of the first names on the team sheet, and Postecoglou will want him to carry on this unbelievable form at the moment.
In other Tottenham news, the Euro press has been seriously impressed by one Spurs player after what he did on international duty.
