Rangers forward Ianis Hagi has returned to the first-team training at Ibrox on Tuesday after calling a contract truce.
According to a report from the Scottish Sun, the Gers are “locked in talks” with Hagi over a deal which could see him return swiftly to the first team.
The Romanian winger is ready to strike an agreement to resolve his contract situation, which has stalled his career for over a year.
The Daily Record claims that Philippe Clement had spoken with the player’s agent and told Hagi to find a new club in the summer. A potential exit from Ibrox didn’t happen and has been playing for the B team since.
The fans have been voicing for him to be welcomed back to the fold, and he has now returned to training, but the European clash may have come too soon for him.
The 25-year-old apparently has a contract clause which was complicating the situation, but it seems it has been finally resolved.
Hagi could become a key player for Rangers yet again
It is a major boost for the Gers that, finally, all parties have found a solution. Hagi played for Romania in the 2024 European Championships but he hasn’t featured for Rangers for over a year.
He has made 99 appearances for the club already, and his experience could come handly to Rangers at a time when Clement is looking to rebuild a squad that can challenge Celtic for major honours.
Hagi turned down a move to Rapid Bucharest in the summer transfer window, as he had no intention of leaving Glasgow. While he is not going to solve all the problems Rangers are facing on the pitch, his return to the side will be seen as a new signing for the club.
With Rabbi Matondo out injured, Hagi’s return will come as a major boost for Rangers. Finally, sense prevailed.
