The Colombian striker has been in terrific form this season, with six goals already, mostly from the bench. He has now been rewarded for his blistering form with a new contract.
The 20-year-old marksman has played a pivotal role in Villa’s success this term, scoring massive winners in victories over West Ham United, Leicester City, Everton and Bayern Munich.
Duran remains behind Ollie Watkins in the pecking order but continues to play a crucial role for the Villains this season. Even manager Unai Emery and his teammate Emiliano Martinez acknowledged the work the young centre-forward is putting into his craft.

“He came back with a different mentality this season,” said the Villa goalkeeper after their heroics against Bayern.
“He’s willing to work hard, he’s pushing Ollie all the way, they can play together, he’s a super sub, the first time he touched the ball, he lobbed Manuel Neuer, one of the best goalies in history.”
“The way he plays, he’s such a handful for defenders when he comes on with all that energy,” Morgan Rogers enthused.
“He knows he’ll get that chance and backs himself 100%. Every game is the same; he’s the most chilled, relaxed person I’ve ever met. He’s a different animal when he’s playing.”
Duran’s new contract will be welcome news for Emery. Keeping the former Chicago Rapid Fire star is imperative for their exciting project.
Duran had interest from Chelsea and West Ham United during the summer transfer window. The Blues pushed for a deal but could not get it done, with Villa demanding an exorbitant sum for the striker valued at €35 million on transfermarkt. The Hammers even agreed personal terms with the youngster.
Now, Duran will have to put any thoughts of a transfer behind and focus on Villa’s ambitions as they bid to deliver another unforgettable campaign.
