Manchester United are confident that they can secure a deal for Sporting Lisbon boss Ruben Amorim before Sunday’s Premier League clash against Chelsea.
According to Sky Sports journalist Kaveh Solhekol, Sporting believe that Amorim’s move to Man Utd is a “done deal”.
Sporting confirmed on Tuesday that the Red Devils have made them clear that they are ready to trigger the 39-year-old’s €10 million release clause.
Solhekol says that Amorim has told Sporting that he wants to move to United. The Portuguese giants want to make sure that Amorim leaves the club in the right way.
Amorim has a 30-day notice period in his contract, but he wants to move to United immediately and take three of his coaches with him straight away. As a result of this, Sporting are demanding an extra €5 million as compensation.

Sporting inserted a high release clause in Amorim’s contract so that any Portuguese club like Benfica or Porto would have to pay a massive fee to take him away, around €30 million.
But for other big foreign clubs, Sporting fans thought that the fee was still high enough, around €20 million. They will be furious to find that United are getting a quality manager for a measly fee, as the amount is easily affordable for any big Premier League club.
United have started negotiating with Amorim’s staff, but the situation looks delicate at the moment. Amorim is loved and adored by the players and the fans, and he has not decided about his future yet.
It has been suggested that some of the Sporting players are also angry with Amorim’s decision to join Man Utd, as they believe that they had stayed at the club because of the manager when there were offers for them to move elsewhere.
The Red Devils will face Leicester City in the League Cup clash tonight, and Ruud van Nistelrooy will take charge of the team.
