Liverpool closely keeping tabs on the situation of Eintracht Frankfurt striker Omar Marmoush

Liverpool are closely monitoring the situation of Eintracht Frankfurt striker Omar Marmoush, according to Sky Sports Germany journalist Florian Plettenberg.

The Egyptian has been on fine form this term, outshining and outscoring the likes of Harry Kane in the Bundesliga this term, with eight goals to his name in six league appearances.

The Liverpool target also has a goal in the Europa League and has weighed in six assists across all competitions and is currently the highest goalscorer in the German top-flight.

Marmoush bagged a brace and one assist as Frankfurt drew 3-3 with Bayern Munich on Sunday.

He drew his side level in the 22nd minute before helping to put them ahead with his fourth league assist of the campaign in the 35th minute.

Bayern were 3-2 up heading into the final minutes of the game, but the Liverpool target notched a 94th-minute equaliser to deny the visitors all three points.

Frankfurt now want to extend his contract early by one year until 2028 and will not include a release clause in his deal.

Marmoush dreams of playing for Liverpool but the top priority for his club is to hold on to the 25-year-old top striker beyond the January transfer window.

The Reds may need to bolster their attacking ranks if Mohamed Salah refuses to sign a contract extension and leaves as a free agent at the end of the campaign, and the Frankfurt star could emerge as an option for them in the transfer market.

Nottingham Forest, West Ham United, Fulham and Arsenal have also been linked with Marmoush, who bagged 12 league goals and six assists last term.

Forest tabled €30 million for the Egyptian during the last summer transfer window, but Frankfurt are unwilling to sell him in January and have slammed a €40-50m price tag on his head ahead of the next summer window.

Liverpool will fancy their chances of landing Marmoush, but they will have to wait until next summer to have a realistic chance of getting their man.
