Liverpool goalkeeper Alisson emerges as the best in the league in one key area

Liverpool star now best in the league in one area after brilliant stat emerges

Liverpool have made a fast start to the 2024/25 Premier League season to establish themselves at the top of the table, and Alisson has been a key part of their early success.

Arne Slot couldn’t have dreamt of a better start to his tenure as Reds manager, dispelling doubts about his ability to adequately replace club legend Jurgen Klopp, who left the club at the end of last season.

Slot has won nine of his first ten matches as Reds gaffer across all competitions despite a quiet summer transfer window that saw only the injury-prone Federico Chiesa join the squad.

He has established the Merseyside giants as Premier League pacesetters after racking up 18 points from seven games heading into the second international break of the season.

In addition to their remarkable form, Liverpool have scored 13 goals while running a tight ship at the back that has seen Alisson pick the ball out of his net just twice in the league.

The Brazilian goalkeeper has been one of the standout players in the Liverpool squad so far, and a recent statistic has emerged proving that he is one of the best shot-stoppers in the division.

Alisson has prevented 1.13 goals this season, more than any other goalkeeper in the Premier League, with Aston Villa’s Emiliano Martinez coming second (1.03).

The 32-year-old club stalwart has also made 15 saves in six games while boasting three clean sheets.

Alisson has been a key player for Liverpool since joining the club from AS Roma, and he has continued his fine form this season, although the Reds will have to do without him for the next month.

The Brazilian was forced off in Liverpool’s 1-0 win over Crystal Palace with a hamstring problem, so second-choice Caoimhin Kelleher will have to step up in his place.

The Reds take on Chelsea at Anfield after the international break and claiming maximum points against the resurgent Blues will be another massive step in a potential title bid.
