Man Utd proceed with formal steps over backroom staff appointment

Manchester United are making progress in appointing Ruben Amorim as their next manager after the sacking of Erik ten Hag.

Sporting Lisbon have confirmed earlier today that the Red Devils will pay the €10 million release clause to bring Amorim to Old Trafford.

The 39-year-old manager has accepted the Man United project, but it is still unclear whether he will be in the dugout for the weekend’s Premier League clash against Chelsea.

According to Fabrizio Romano, the Red Devils have not only started negotiations to bring the Portuguese manager but have also reached out to bring his backroom staff.

Talks are ongoing at the moment as the Red Devils proceed with formal steps to appoint Amorim.

Romano wrote on X: “Manchester United have already started talks with Rúben Amorim about his backroom staff.

“Sporting and Man United remain in contact to proceed with formal steps after Manchester United confirmed they will trigger €10m exit clause for Amorim.”

Ruben Amorim needs to fix major problems at Manchester United

The young manager has done a terrific job at Sporting Lisbon and has won two league titles already.

The opportunity to manage a massive club like Manchester United would be too tempting to turn down, and it looks like a deal will be struck at some point in the next 48 hours.

Amorim has earned comparisons with Jose Mourinho, but he prefers an attacking brand of football. He prefers a 3-5-2 system, where the full-backs play a big role in his team.

When he took charge of Sporting, they were really struggling in the league. He awoke a sleeping giant and helped the club win the league title for the first time in 19 years.

Amorim also won two cups during his time with FC Braga, and Man Utd fans will hope that he can bring success to Old Trafford and make a similar impact as he did with Sporting.
