The pressure is mounting on manager Julen Lopetegui after West Ham’s disastrous start to the 2024-25 campaign.
The Hammers’ fans are yet to see the results of their huge summer investments on the pitch as they are languishing in 15th in the Premier League.
One of their worst defeats came on Saturday against Tottenham Hotspur who cruised to a 4-1 win after goals from Dejan Kulusevski, Yves Bissouma and Son Heung-min.
Lopetegui is reportedly not in imminent danger of being sacked but the Spaniard knows he must improve performances soon.
Former England international Michael Dawson wasn’t at all pleased with West Ham’s display against Spurs. He gave a damning verdict on their performance, saying their second-half collapse was very concerning.
Dawson said: “West Ham were all over the place. It was remarkable, I couldn’t believe it. The way all of a sudden, the 15 minutes in the second-half, the game drifting. And I said at half-time, it was in the balance, Spurs were the better team but West Ham could have turned it around quite easily. But 15 minutes changed everything. And that was a concern for Julen Lopetegui because I have seen on numerous occasions this season and I expected more from them, I really do. They got a good win against Ipswich, very very comfortable and then to go and put in a performance like that. It was concerning, because I saw them against Chelsea, very concerning”.

West Ham were in a buoyant mood before Saturday’s game in North London, having entered the fixture on the back of a morale-boosting 4-1 win over Ipswich Town.
However, despite making a positive start, they slumped to a humiliating 4-1 loss against Tottenham.
The Hammers were especially poor during the first 15 minutes of the second-half.
Jean Clair-Todibo and Max Kilman were terrible in central defence but they also had no protection in front of them. Guido Rodriguez made several vital tackles and interceptions but the same cannot be said about Lucas Paqueta and Tomas Soucek.
Mohammed Kudus was one of their best performers on Saturday but the Ghanaian lost his head late in the game when he shoved two Spurs players in the face and subsequently received a red card.
