National press blown away by Daichi Kamada in Crystal Palace win v Aston Villa

Crystal Palace have moved into the quarter-finals of the Carabao Cup after beating Aston Villa 2-1 on Wednesday night at Villa Park.

The Eagles took an early lead through Eberechi Eze inside the opening ten minutes. Villa restored parity through Jhon Duran in the 23rd minute.

However, Daichi Kamada scored a brilliant goal in the 64th minute to earn Palace their back-to-back wins in all competitions for the first time this season.

The Daily Mail has showered praise on Kamada and hailed his goal as “exquisite”. They have given him an 8/10 rating for his brilliant performance.

Kamada did not start the game, but he was arguably Palace’s best player on the pitch, and Oliver Glasner will be really pleased with the performance of the Japan international.

Could this be the turning point for Crystal Palace?

Palace have now picked up back-to-back wins, and Glasner will hope that they turned the corner around.

The Eagles made a poor start to the season, but Glasner was never under the pressure of losing his job. He retains the full support of the Palace board, and it would be a big achievement if he could take the club to the final of the Carabao Cup.

What has been really interesting to see is that Eze has returned to his best form once again. The England attacking midfielder was superb against Tottenham, and also impressed against Villa.

Kamada has struggled to make an impact at Selhurst Park, but the goal will give him a lot of confidence.

Palace will face Wolves in the Premier League at Molineux in their next Premier League game, and it’s a massive fixture for them. Wolves are 19th in the table and have failed to win a game.

If the Eagles can pick up a victory, it would give the entire squad a massive lift.
