National press slams Manchester United’s Diogo Dalot after horrendous display v Porto

Manchester United’s poor form continued on Thursday as they were held to a 3-3 draw by Porto in their Europa League clash at the Estadio do Dragao.

The Red Devils looked on course for a routine victory when Marcus Rashford and Rasmus Hojlund scored within the first 20 minutes of the game.

However, the hosts soon made a stunning comeback as Pepe reduced the deficit before Samu Omorodion struck the leveller after 34 minutes.

The Chelsea summer target completed his double with a thumping finish after the break.

Porto were on the brink of a memorable victory after Bruno Fernandes’ late red card, but Harry Maguire rescued a point for the visitors with an injury-time equaliser.

The National press gave a damning verdict on United’s performance but they were particularly unhappy with Diogo Dalot.

The Daily Mail called the Portuguese a ‘weak link’ after being exposed at left-back. They gave him a lowly 4/10 rating.

The 25-year-old also lost possession on 13 occasions and won just three of his eight ground duels.

Dalot has been a key member of Erik ten Hag’s team this season and his drop-off in form is concerning.

The defender has started all nine matches across all competitions for Manchester United this campaign, with an assist to his name.

He will be hoping to produce a better performance this Sunday when his team take on Aston Villa in an away Premier League fixture.

The upcoming match is expected to be hugely significant for Ten Hag’s future at Old Trafford. Defeat at Villa Park will likely end the Dutchman’s time in Manchester.
