National press slams West Ham’s Jean-Clair Todibo after ‘horror’ display v Tottenham Hotspur

West Ham United endured a miserable Saturday as they fell to a 4-1 loss against Tottenham Hotspur in the Premier League.

The Hammers made an impressive start to the away encounter as they scored the opener in the 18th minute when Jarrod Bowen pulled  back a deflected ball for Mohammed Kudus to fire home.

However, the Lilywhites kept up the pressure and managed to restore parity nine minutes before the interval.

Dejan Kulusevski hit a pinpoint shot that went in off the post after Alphonse Areola got a hand on it.

The second-half turned out to be completely one-sided as Spurs launched wave after wave of attack and found themselves 4-1 ahead by the hour mark.

Yves Bissouma powered home the advantage before Jean-Clair Todibo inadvertently put the ball in his own net.

Son Heung-min added another on 60 minutes with a superb low finish after some wonderful step-overs.

West Ham’s day got even worse as Kudus was sent off for pushing both Micky van de Ven and Pape Matar Sarr.

The National press slammed the Hammers’ awful defensive display, particularly Jean-Clair Todibo.

The Sunday Mirror gave the Frenchman a lowly 5/10 rating, saying the player endured a ‘horror afternoon’.

The 24-year-old inadvertently put the ball in his own net, though Areola was accredited with the own goal.

Todibo was also left helpless by Son who turned him inside out before smashing their fourth goal.

The 4-1 win over Ipswich Town before the international break had relieved some pressure off manager Julen Lopetegui, but the recent result means the pressure is back on the Spaniard.
