Manchester United are in negotiations to appoint Ruben Amorim as their next manager after sacking Erik ten Hag.
After a wretched run of form, the Red Devils lost patience with the Dutch manager and decided to relieve him of his duties.
Amorim has emerged as their first-choice target, and United are working on a deal to appoint him as soon as possible.
Sporting will face Nacional in the Portuguese League Cup on Tuesday night, and it could be Amorim’s final game in charge.
According to Fabrizio Romano, negotiations are underway at the moment, as the Red Devils are doing everything to bring the 39-year-old manager to Old Trafford.
The transfer expert wrote on X (29 October) that the “contract, project, and details of the agreement” between Amorim and Man Utd are in place, and he is the only one they want at the club.
It has been reported that United will need to pay £8.3 million to appoint the Portuguese boss due to a clause in his contract.

Ruben Amorim on his way to Old Trafford?
The Portuguese boss, who considers Jose Mourinho to be his idol, has done a remarkable job at Sporting.
He certainly is a top-quality manager, but will he be able to handle the dressing room? United are an iconic club with a massive fan base, and the expectations at the club are very high.
When Amorin took charge of Sporting, they were in a terrible state, but he made them a powerhouse in Portugal and broke the duopoly of Benfica and Porto.
United have picked up just one win from the last eight games in all competitions, and Amorim has a huge task in hand to take the club back to where they belong.
United have wasted no time searching for their next manager, which shows they had a plan to appoint Amorim at some stage if Ten Hag fails to improve the current state.
It appears that he could be on his way to Old Trafford, and could be in the dugout for the game against Chelsea.
