Newcastle United eye move to sign Bryan Mbeumo

Newcastle United have struggled throughout the summer to make proper signings due to financial restrictions, and it will continue to be a problem for the Magpies in the January window as well.

The Magpies made a strong start to the season, but they have suffered a dip in form, having failed to win in their last five league games.

Eddie Howe will look to make new additions in the January window, but he may have to work within a tight budget.

According to a report from the Telegraph, the Magpies are discussing the possibility of signing Brentford winger Bryan Mbeumo in January.

Newcastle are keen to strengthen their squad, but if they want to make a marquee signing, they will have to sell one of their key players.

The Magpies have spent more than £400 million on players since the takeover in October 2021, but they are struggling to recoup money through player sales.

Bryan Mbeumo would be a smart addition

Newcastle looked to bolster their forward department in the summer, but eventually, they focussed on signing Marc Guehi. Despite making several attempts, they failed to land him.

They need a right-sided winger, but it won’t be easy for the Magpies to sign players like Jarrad Bowen, especially after he has signed a new deal at West Ham.

The club parted with wingers Elliot Anderson and Yankuba Minteh during the summer window to comply with the financial rules, and now they are still facing a similar crisis.

It has become an ongoing crisis for the club. Mbeumo has been at Brentford since 2019 and has made over 200 appearances for the club, scoring 58 goals.

He is capable of playing as a right winger or a central attacking midfielder and would come at a decent price.

The Cameron international has scored eight goals in the Premier League already, and his “excellent” performances have caught Newcastle’s attention.
