Newcastle willing to pay £45m for Bournemouth’s Antoine Semenyo

Newcastle United endured an underwhelming summer transfer window as they failed to land their key targets.

Their month-long pursuit of Crystal Palace centre-back Marc Guehi ended in failure despite their willingness to pay an enormous £65 million transfer fee.

However, reports suggest they are still keen on the England international and could make another move for him.

The Tyneside club are also interested in adding a high-profile right winger and have identified Bournemouth’s Antoine Semenyo as an ideal option, per the Daily Mirror (October 22, Page 56).

The 24-year-old is contracted with the Cherries until 2029 but they are prepared to let him leave for £45m.

While some may buckle at the huge valuation of the player, Newcastle are said to be willing to pay that price.

Semenyo joined Bournemouth in January 2023 and has hit the ground running at the Vitality Stadium.

He enjoyed an ‘outstanding’ 2023-24 season at the Premier League outfit, scoring eight goals and providing two assists in 33 appearances.

The Ghana international has also made a positive start to the new campaign, scoring three goals in eight top-flight games.

Newcastle are open to offers for Miguel Almiron in the January transfer window. If the Paraguayan footballer ends up leaving, Semenyo could be a perfect replacement for him.

The former Bristol City star is still very young and can perform a variety of attacking roles.

The Magpies didn’t spend much last summer and so they likely have funds available for new recruits in the next transfer window.
