Ruud van Nistelrooy expected to leave Manchester United

Manchester United are confident that the club will appoint Ruben Amorin as their next manager before Sunday’s Premier League clash against Chelsea.

The Red Devils have agreed to pay his €10 million release clause, and talks are ongoing at the moment to bring Amorim’s backroom staff to the club.

United sacked Erik ten Hag on Monday after the club’s worst-ever start to a Premier League campaign. Minority co-owners Ineos have moved quickly to find the Dutchman’s successor, and they want Amorim at Old Trafford.

According to a report from iNews, assistant manager Ruud van Nistelrooy is expected to leave the club once Amorim is appointed.

Nistelrooy will take charge of the club on Wednesday for midweek’s Carabao Cup clash against Leicester City. After that, he is likely to depart, as Amorim will bring his own trusted backroom members from Sporting to Old Trafford.

Carlos Fernandes and Adelio Candido are two of Amorim’s trusted assistants at Sporting. They have followed the Portuguese to three clubs and are fully expected to join him in Manchester. Therefore, Nistelrooy’s days at the club are numbered, and he could only take charge of the club for one game in the interim role.

Ruud van Nistelrooy controversy at Manchester United

It makes sense for Man Utd to part ways with Nistelrooy as he won’t be needed in Amorim’s set-up.

The new manager will come up with fresh ideas, and he will be comfortable working with his trusted group of people.

Van Nistelrooy sparked controversy this week when he was recently observed to be “acting more like a manager.”

The former United striker deleted an old photograph of him doing blackface. An image from 2013 showed Van Nistelrooy wearing black make-up and dressed as the biblical wise man.

Many fans took to X to reshare the old photo of Nistelrooy dressed in elaborate garments in the Parade of the Three Kings in Marbella, Spain before he deleted it.

Rene Hake and Andreas Georgson only joined Ten Hag’s backroom staff in the summer, but it is unclear what the future holds for them.
