Summerville starts as Lopetegui makes three key changes – Predicted West Ham XI vs Manchester United

It has been a woeful start to the 2024-25 season for West Ham United who are languishing in 15th after winning just two of their opening eight Premier League matches.

The Hammers fell to a humiliating 4-1 defeat at Tottenham Hotspur last weekend after their spectacular second-half collapse.

Julen Lopetegui will be looking for a positive result this Sunday when they welcome Manchester United to the London Stadium.

However, that will be easier said than done as United boast several world-class players in their ranks and are highly motivated to win after a miserable start.

Predicted West Ham XI vs Manchester United

Alphonse Areola endured a difficult game against Spurs but he is expected to continue between the sticks this Sunday.

In front of the 31-year-old, Lopetegui will likely feature the same backline with Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Emerson Palmeiri set to flank Jean-Clair Todibo and Max Kilman.

The Spanish boss may opt to drop Guido Rodriguez who was withdrawn just after the hour in the previous London derby. Edson Alvarez could take the 30-year-old’s place in midfield.

Mohammed Kudus will miss at least three matches after receiving a red card in the Tottenham game for pushing both Micky van de Ven and Pape Matar Sarr. Summer signing Crysencio Summerville is expected to start on the left wing as a replacement.

Meanwhile, Lucas Paqueta and Jarrod Bowen will likely keep their first-team spots but the same thing cannot be said about Michail Antonio. Lopetegui could opt to start Danny Ings ahead of the Jamaica international to lead the attack.

Predicted West Ham XI: Areola; Wan-Bissaka, Todibo, Kilman, Emerson; Alvarez, Soucek; Bowen, Paqueta, Summerville; Ings
