TalkSPORT pundit drops Liverpool Premier League title challenge claim as tough fixtures await

Jurgen Klinsmann says Darwin Nunez could become 'top class' after what he saw in Liverpool win v Bologna

Liverpool have made a near perfect start to the 2024-25 campaign. They are doing exceptionally well in the English top-flight as well as Europe.

The Reds condemned AC Milan to a 3-1 defeat at the San Siro before beating Bologna 2-0 at home in the Champions League earlier this month.

Meanwhile, six wins from their opening seven league fixtures mean they are now sitting ahead of Manchester City and Arsenal at the top of the Premier League standings

Nobody expected them to be challenging for the title at the start of the season but now they are being considered as title contenders following their excellent start.

TalkSPORT pundit Darren Ambrose believes they can keep pace with City and the Gunners as they look very confident in their matches this term.

He said: “I can see them keeping up to pace, just because the way it’s started. Arguably not played anyone with too much significance in terms of the title race. But I just feel the confidence they have got now they seem to be going into games like Liverpool have three four years ago. They just feel like no matter what we are going to win, yeah okay one nil against Crystal Palace but still three points”.

It is still very early in the season, but Liverpool’s excellent start has given fans some hope they can lift the Premier League title this season.

They last pulled off this feat in 2019-20 under Jurgen Klopp when they finished the campaign on an incredible 99 points.

The Merseyside giants also came agonisingly close to repeating the feat in 2021-22 when they finished just a point behind City.

The last two seasons have seen a two-horse race between Arsenal and City, and the two teams are also the top favourites for the league crown this term.

However, Liverpool have been excellent with their performances so far and could win the title this campaign.

Tough fixtures with Chelsea and Arsenal await them following the international break, but given the quality in their squad and their confidence, the Reds are expected to do well against them.
