Crystal Palace registered their first win in the Premier League after beating London rivals Tottenham Hotspur 1-0 at Selhurst Park.
Jean-Philippe Mateta scored the only goal of the match as the Eagles finally ended their wretched run of form.
Dean Henderson made some smart saves, while Eberechi Eze absolutely dominated the game from midfield in the second half.
Palace were equally brilliant at the back and they totally deserve this victory.
Troy Deeney was impressed with the Eagles centre-back Marc Guehi, who was a rock at the back. The BBC pundit picked him for the team of the week and hailed the 24-year-old centre-back as “excellent”.
Deeney said that it was a “great performance” from Guehi considering Palace were under a lot of pressure to deliver.
What Deeney said about Marc Guehi
It would be really unfair to pick Guehi as a stand-out player, as both Trevoh Chalonah and Maxence Lacroix were equally brilliant alongside Guehi.
Likewise, Daniel Munoz was sensational for Palace, and Tyrick Mitchell was brilliant as well.
Deeney said about Guehi: “He was excellent again. A very good captain’s performance, very calm and very measured. He didn’t really allow Tottenham too much. He had a great performance considering how much pressure was on them to win a game.”
Crystal Palace defensive stats v Spurs
Chalobah managed three tackles, one interception, and seven clearances, and he produced arguably his best performance for Palace.
Likewise, Lacroix made three tackles, two interceptions, and three clearances, which shows how well these two have performed.
Guehi, on the other hand, has made seven clearances and blocked two shots. He also had a shot on target.
However, Munoz was probably the real star at the back. He made as many as nine tackles, one interception, and three clearances. He attempted two shots and managed a key pass.
The defender also provided four crosses during the game.
