Alan Shearer raves about ‘sensational’ Ola Aina in Nottingham Forest win v West Ham

Nottingham Forest moved to third in the Premier League after beating West Ham 3-0 on Saturday at City Ground.

The Reds have made a terrific start under Nuno Espirito Santo. They are also the only team to have beaten league leaders Liverpool this season, and that too at Anfield.

Chris Wood is enjoying the form of his life, and he scored the opening goal for Forest, heading from close range.

The task became easier for the home side when the Hammers went down to ten men after Edson Alvarez picked up a red card in the first half.

Callum Hudson-Odoi added another to the goal tally when his free-kick evaded Lukasz Fabianski, and Ola Aina put the icing on the cake with a thunderous strike with his left foot that rifled into the far corner.

Alan Shearer has picked the 28-year-old in his Premier League team of the week, and he has hailed him as “sensational”.

He said: “Scored a sensational goal in the victory over West Ham and was part of a solid defensive display from Nottingham Forest.”

Ola Aina was superb in Forest win v West Ham

Aina is a key player for Nuno, and he has started in 10 Premier League games so far.

He was solid defensively, as Shearer pointed out, making four tackles and one interception. He won 100% of his aerial duels and won five out of seven ground duels.

While he lost possession 14 times, he did compensate with 91% accurate passing, per SofaScore.

Forest will be looking to maintain their impressive form before the international break when they face Newcastle at City Ground this week.

The Magpies are running high on confidence after beating Arsenal 1-0 at St James’ Park, and this could be a cracking contest.

The confidence in the squad is high after three consecutive wins, and Forest fans will hope that long it may continue.

In other Forest news, the Reds are eyeing move to sign 19-year-old French winger.
