Leeds United boss Daniel Farke is already without several key players due to injuries, but this hasn’t affected their performance on the pitch.
The Whites are second in the Championship table with 26 points, three behind league leaders Sunderland.
Leeds will travel to Millwall on Wednesday, and Farke has shared his team news ahead of the match.
The Yorkshire club were without some of their key players in the 3-0 win over Plymouth Argyle on Saturday, and Farke has confirmed that there are no fresh injury concerns.
Daniel Farke shares update on Ethan Ampadu
The Leeds skipper has been rehabilitating his knee for over a month now, but Farke has shared that the “versatile” midfielder is making steady progress and is way ahead of his schedule.
The 24-year-old is working hard and already doing some running. These are really encouraging signs, and Farke is “carefully optimistic” that Ampadu can return quickly.
He says that Ampadu should be back in training in the middle of December, and by the opening week of January, he should be available for selection.
However, Farke adds that it would be nice if he returned to the side earlier because he’s a key player.
“He’s working hard, already doing some running,” said Farke, as quoted by Yorkshire Evening Post.
“It will be a while before he can join us in team training, he’s even a bit ahead of schedule. I’m carefully optimistic he can return to team training a bit earlier. We will see.
“Normally it would be realistic to be back in training in the middle of December and then available in the beginning of January.
“It would be nice if he can help us already a bit earlier and sooner because he’s our captain and a versatile player. We would love to have him back but we won’t rush it. It was a serious injury.
“He’s a bit ahead but let’s see how it develops. It’s always difficult to say, you have to extend the load from day to day and there could be a day when you have to be a bit careful and take a step back.
“It’s pretty rare that I’ve ever experienced a straightforward rehab. So far each day it was better and it looks really good but it’s too soon to judge when he can help us again.”
Leeds United duo injury update ahead of Millwall clash
Along with Ampadu, Leeds are also missing Largie Ramazani and Ilia Gruev through long-term injuries.
Jayden Bogle is set to return after serving his suspension, but doubts remain over the fitness of Patrick Bamford and Joe Gelhardt.
The duo was absent in the previous game. Bamford was struggling with illness, while Gelhardt picked up a hip problem in training just before the matchday.
Farke will make late decisions over their selection if they both train today.
