Newcastle United will be looking to bounce back when they travel to Selhurst Park to take on Crystal Palace in the Premier League.
The Magpies fell to a shocking 2-0 loss against West Ham United on Monday night after goals from Tomas Soucek and Aaron Wan-Bissaka.
Newcastle were vulnerable in defence and also failed to convert their chances. Given their disappointing performance, they didn’t derserve anything from the match.
Manager Eddie Howe will be expecting a much better showing from his team against Palace this Saturday.
The Eagles have had a disastrous start to the season, winning one of their 12 games to be in the relegation zone. But they will fancy their chances this weekend after playing out a thrilling 2-2 draw against Aston Villa.
BBC football pundit Chris Sutton praises Oliver Glasner for earning a good result at Villa Park, but he doesn’t believe the Austrian boss will get much joy on Saturday.
Sutton isn’t entirely convinced with Newcastle either, and so he is predicting the result will be a 1-1 draw.
Writing in his column for BBC Sport, the 51-year-old said: “Crystal Palace have still only won one league game all season, against Tottenham at the end of October. The Eagles got a good point at Aston Villa last weekend but their manager Oliver Glasner definitely needs more than that to provide some early Christmas cheer.
“I am not sure Glasner will get much joy here, though. Although I did not expect Newcastle lose at home to West Ham on Monday, I would not be surprised to see them bounce back.
“This smells of a draw to me, because I do not see Newcastle losing”.
Despite Monday’s defeat, Newcastle have high hopes of securing a European berth this season. They are currently sitting 10th in the Premier League table, with just four points behind the top four.
The Tyneside club will be looking to further close the gap with victory over Palace this Saturday. They are expected to face tough competition from the Eagles, but quality in their ranks mean an away victory is more likely.
